LibreOffice brings remote presentation app to Android

LibreOffice, the free alternative productivity suite, may now have an ace up its sleeve to attract mobile users: an "Impress Remote" feature that works with Android phones.

While the Document Foundation introduced the feature for Linux in LibreOffice 4.0 last month, it has now brought the feature to Windows and Mac via LibreOffice 4.0.1.

"Now available as a free download in the Google Play store, LibreOffice Impress Remote uses Bluetooth in phones with Android 2.3 and higher to give LibreOffice users the ability to interact with their slideshow presentations directly from their Android device," tech site PC World said (http://www.pcworld.com/article/2030167/libreoffice-update-brings-remote-presentation-app-to-windows-mac.html).

It said LibreOffice 4.0.1 is already available as a free download from the project site.

PC World said items like slide previews and speaker notes are made available through the app, and allows users of LibreOffice "to give demonstrations, for example, using a clone of their presentation on their device."

On the other hand, LibreOffice 4.0.1 addresses several bugs found in LibreOffice 4.0.

Meanwhile, PC World said enterprise users of LibreOffice were encouraged to stick for now to “the more solid and stable" LibreOffice 3.6.5. — TJD, GMA News
