GMail updates iOS app, allows switching for up to 5 accounts

Gmail users who have more than one account can now access them on their iPhones and iPads, after Google updated its Gmail app for iOS to manage up to five accounts.

The updated app also allows a Gmail user to search across his or her entire inbox, and can notify a user of new mail quickly with notification center, badge and lock screen options.

A description of the app on Apple's App Store said other features include threaded conversations, auto-complete of contact names, and the ability to respond to Google Calendar invites from the app.

On the other hand, the app also allows a user to swipe left or right to move between messages without having to return to the inbox.

It also lets a user act on multiple messages more quickly, and select a message in the inbox to enable edit mode.

Version 2.1 of the app weighs in at 16.4 mb and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, though it is optimized for iPhone 5.

The app requires iOS 5.0 or later. — TJD, GMA News
