Scary new monsters revealed in Dragon's Dogma: Darkness Arisen video

Capcom has released a new gameplay video of the follow-up to their successful action-roleplaying game, Dragon’s Dogma. Here it is, borrowed from Capcom Unity’s YouTube channel:

Dragon’s Dogma is one of Capcom’s latest IPs. Released only last year, it found itself a horde of new fans with its exciting combat system, which some critics have hailed as one of the best in any RPG. Its gorgeous bestiary of monsters – which include the dimwitted Cyclops and ferocious Chimera – were awesome not only to look at, but to fight as well; strategy was required to defeat them, not just plain old hack-n-slash. Thirdly, something has to be said about the incredible customization options offered by the game’s character creation function.

Dragon’s Dogma was successful enough to warrant a sequel. However, since a full sequel is probably still a few years off, Capcom is, for the time being, giving fans Dragon’s Dogma: Darkness Arisen – a re-release of the original game but with the added content of a massive new realm, new skills to master, new loot to plunder, and of course, the aforementioned new monsters.

Though short, the video exhibits some of the game’s new enemies, including the Eliminator, a twelve-feet-tall brute with a minotaur helm; the Pryosaurian, a fire-breathing cousin of the original game’s giant lizards; and lastly, Death. No, not the pretty goth-chick Death, but Death Death, complete with tattered black robes and wicked-looking scythe. These monsters are no slouch either; in the tradition of the original game, the new baddies will test your wits as much as your mettle.

According to ComputerAndVideoGames and the Dragon’s Dogma wiki, Dragon’s Dogma: Darkness Arisen will not be available as DLC, but as a standalone game that will be sold in hard copy as well as digital copy. It will be released on the last week of April. — TJD, GMA News
