A working mech robot for your kid? That'll be $20k

What's green, six feet tall, and poses a major threat to your parents' wallets? A giant robot made by a Japanese company, that's what.

The robot, made by Sakakibara Kikai, is big enough for children to climb aboard and pilot.

"With easy-to-use hand controls, kids can effortlessly control the giant toy, making it do simple movements with its arms. The robot is also capable of walking forwards, backwards and can even turn a full circle," reported DesignTaxi.com.

It added the huge "toy" needs a battery to operate and is safe for kids —but can be destructive to parents' wallets: it might set them back by $20,000.

A separate article on Forbes.com said the maker has not listed a price for the robot for now, though it had released another kid-driveable robot in 2011.

The 2011 model had cost $20,000, leading to speculation that the new model will be similarly priced. — TJD, GMA News
