LOTR Battle of Helm’s Deep recreated using 150,000 LEGO bricks
By Julia Jasmine Madrazo-Sta. Romana
One of the greatest fictional battles ever written, The Battle of Helm’s Deep, has finally been recreated in LEGO.
This massive project, created by by Rich-K and Big-J, was based on the Peter Jackson adaptation in his 3rd instalment of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Two Towers. Roughly 150,000 bricks were used to recreate every detail of the fortress and the ravine, from the catapults, ladders, rock crevices and towering walls. While 1,700 minifigures were used to represent the 300 Helm’s Deep soldiers (in armour), 100 Rohan peasants (with pitchforks!) and 200 elves (blonds, of course) fought against 1,000 orcs (black with skull faces) in the early part of the battle; all posed and ready for war in one of the most dramatic battles of cinematic history.
Only 90% complete
According to the mocpages.com account of Goel Kim —where the images were originally uploaded— the project is only 90% complete and as of this writing, there are no reports on when the images of the completed project would be uploaded. But despite of that, recreating the battle in this scale is truly a feat, considering that the actual LEGO set of the Battle of Helm’s Deep is only composed of 8 minifigures, a few hundred bricks and plenty of pre-made accessories. — TJD, GMA News
