Plants can walk in upcoming PVZ sequel

The heroes of the hit "Plants vs Zombies" are getting a dose of attitude - and more importantly, legs - in the game's upcoming sequel.

Developer PopCap Games demonstrated the plants' new capability to move around in the upcoming "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare"

"Instead of laying out rows of plants, you’ll be scurrying about the battlefield. Yes, the plants have legs. Some suspension of disbelief is encouraged," PC World reported.

The sequel will head for Microsoft's Xbox One and Xbox 360 in 2014, but may eventually spread to other platforms, including the PC, it added.

Electronic Arts, which acquired PopCap, demonstrated the game at the E3 2013, and released a trailer on YouTube:

However, the premise is basically the same, with zombies attacking in waves, and the plants have to repel them.

There is also little change in the heroes' roles, PC World said.

"The Peashooter shoots, well, peas, and it can drop minuscule versions of itself as turrets to keep the zombie hordes at bay. The Chomper specializes in melee combat—read: swallowing zombies whole. The Cactus serves as a sniper, hurling spiky thorns of death, and the Sunflower will heal her buddies with glorious sunshine and keep them in the fight," it said.

PC World added this may be "a huge gamble" for PopCap Games, but may be "just crazy enough to work." — TJD, GMA News
