Firefox OS for Geeksphone devices updated to 1.1
Mozilla has upgraded its "Firefox OS" operating system for mobile devices, rolling out Firefox OS 1.1 to Geeksphone smartphones.
Tech site Engadget said users of the devices running Firefox OS 1.1 reported faster boot times, even as Mozilla said the upgrade also contains bug fixes.
"According to enthusiasts on the Geeksphone forums and Twitter (Firefox OS 1.1) speeds up boot times, patches an assortment of bugs and tacks on minor navigational and display improvements," it said.
Users of the Geeksphone can update the Firefox OS manually, the report added.
The Geeksphone, in Keon and Peak variants, is one of the first devices running Firefox OS.
However, the phones are more geared for developers than for ordinary users.
"Naturally, users interested in trying the build will have to download and flash it themselves," Endadget said. — VC, GMA News
