Not just Windows: iPhones now suffer Blue Screen of Death too

Who would have thought the dreaded Blue Screen of Death, a condition that sometimes makes Microsoft's Windows a laughingstock inthe tech world, would make its way to ... Apple's flagship iPhone 5S?

Users on the enthusiast MacRumors forum reported seeing a BSOD on their beloved smartphones before the devices reboot.

"So I got my iPhone 5s yesterday and set everything up when I got home. I started playing around with it and all of a sudden the screen blue and the the phone rebooted," said one member of the forum.

While the member narrated thinking at first this was an isolated case, the issue "kept happening."

The member added the BSOD would happen during use of the ESPN Scorecenter or Numbers apps.

"Very (bizarre) I thought so I recorded a video of this happening and headed to the Apple store. Of course I couldn't reproduce the problem in front of the genius but the video helped and they gave me a brand new replacement.... I backed up from my iCloud and stayed in the store for nearly an hour playing around with the phone. Later on while doing some shopping I open numbers and there it goes again!" the member said.

A report on The Verge said the BSOD reboots initially seem to be "iPhone 5S specific" and are largely occurring with Apple's own free iWork apps.

It added an initial check of videos about the issue show "multitasking between apps seems to trigger the BSOD."

But it also noted iPhone 5S users are reporting random reboots during device use (http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/11/4826934/iphone-5s-blue-screen-reboots).

The Verge said Apple's latest update, iOS 7.0.2, did not appear to fix the reboot issues.
