Nokia's first tablet to hit shelves December 4

Consumers will finally get a chance to buy the Lumia 2520, Nokia's first tablet, on December 4, a tech site reported Friday.

T3.com said the tablet, which will cost £399.99, will initially be exclusive to John Lewis.

"We're excited to announce the launch of the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet exclusive to John Lewis," the site quoted John Lewis' junior buyer for tablets and telecoms Harry Boughton as saying in a statement.

He added they have seen a "continuing demand for tablets, selling one every 15 seconds," and the addition of this tablet "will appeal to customers looking to do more than surf the web."

The Windows 8-powered Lumia 2520 features a 10.1-inch screen, 4G connectivity, and up to 11 hours battery life.

On the other hand, T3.com said Nokia's biggest handset, the Lumia 1520, will go on sale on Dec. 6.

Photo features

T3.com said the 2520 features a 6.7-megapixel camera at the rear, along with Nokia's own photo apps like Nokia Storyteller.

Mounted on the front is a two-megapixel camera for video calls.

The new tablet also features near-field communication (NFC), "so you can just tap the tablet against another NFC-enabled device to pair them."
