Woo-hoo! Simpsons LEGO coming soon

Woo-hoo, Simpsons fans! Nearly 25 years after debuting on television, the iconic animated family is finally getting the equally iconic LEGO treatment.

LEGO's latest playset features The Simpsons' house, complete with minifigures of all five Simpsons and neighbor Ned Flanders.

In a YouTube video detailing its newest product, LEGO designers said the 2,500-brick house has a detachable roof, modular design, Homer's pink car with dent, and - of course - the famous family couch where the weekly gags take place.

But the designers also pointed out this will be the first LEGO playset where the minifigures - that's right, it's Bart - have molded sleeves and shorts.

The family house can be opened to reveal the rooms, including the TV showing The Itchy and Scratchy Show.

"Taken right out of Springfield, this amazing model is crammed with tons of LEGO® brick detail. Lift off the roof and open up the house to discover Homer and Marge's big family bedroom including bed and Maggie's crib, Bart's room with his skateboard and Krusty the Clown poster, Lisa's room with her favorite books, jazz poster and more, and bathroom with shower, toilet, sink and mirror," LEGO said on the YouTube entry.

It added the top floor can be lifted to reveal fully-fitted kitchen with dining table, chairs, yellow and light-blue tiled floor.

Homer's car even has the "radioactive" bar from the nuclear power plant, it said.

LEGO said the playset will cost $199.99.

A separate article on Gizmodo said the first images of the set were leaked in Eurobricks.

It described the playset as the "perfect mix of two of the most iconic culture objects in the history of mankind: LEGO, perhaps the most popular toy in the world, and The Simpsons, perhaps the most popular TV series of all time."

It added the new set will be available starting Feb. 1. — TJD, GMA News
