Blizzard's Hearthstone online card game enters open beta

Good news for fans of "Hearthstone"—Blizzard's hit Warcraft-themed strategy card game—has just entered open beta, meaning its legions of fans eager to try it out longer need an invite to try it out.

The open beta applies to gamers in North America, Latin America, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, IGN reported.

"For those in the regions with access, the Hearthstone open beta - available on PC and Mac - can be downloaded from the official website and only requires a free Battle.net account to play. According to Blizzard, there are no future wipes planned for the game, meaning players can collect cards without fear of losing them due to the release of a new update," IGN said.

But IGN said Blizzard warned it may be forced to disable account activations if its servers are overloaded.

The game had been in an invitation-only beta since last year, with the open beta initially scheduled last December.

On the other hand, IGN said there is no support yet for mobile devices running Google's Android and Apple's iOS.

A separate article on Forbes.com said the game "appears to be having some stability issues" after the open beta patch.

However, it added "Hearthstone" is "a lot of fun." — TJD, GMA News
