Floppy drives do a badass Star Wars Imperial march [video]
If only George Lucas knew just how potent the now-obsolete floppy drives could be as musical instruments.
A YouTube user has posted a video of a rendition of the "Imperial March" from "Star Wars," using floppy disk drives and an Arduino controller.
YouTube user Andrea Dylan's video, posted Jan. 8 last year, was featured on tech site Mashable just recently:
"Although it isn't nearly as frightening as the original, it is equally awesome," Mashable said (http://mashable.com/2014/01/18/floppy-drives-star-wars-imperial-march/).
Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform.
The video garnered 16,790 views, along with 267 likes.
But Dylan's YouTube page indicated floppy drives are capable of playing not just tunes from 1970s films - they can also do a mean take of PSY's 2012 monster hit "Gangnam Style."
