GTA: San Andreas now on Windows Phone

Fans of the "Grand Theft Auto" game franchise with smartphones running Microsoft's Windows Phone now have one less reason to envy their iOS and Android counterparts.

As promised by developer Rockstar Games, "GTA San Andreas" was made available at the Windows Phone Store on Monday, tech site The Verge reported.

"The release comes around a year after Rockstar ported 2002’s GTA: Vice City to mobile devices, and a month after the release for iOS and Android," it noted.

But the Windows Phone Store pointed out the game may not be available for all Windows Phone devices.

It said the game is supported only on Nokia Lumia 1520, 1320, 822, 820, and 810, and HTC’s 8XT.

On the other hand, The Verge said it managed to download and test the game on a Lumia 1020 "and it works fine, so it should work on any 1GB Windows Phone 8 handset."

Also, it said the game is available as a 19MB download, but a user may have to install an additional 2.5GB update afterwards.

"The update requires Wi-Fi with the handset on charge for the entirety of the download," it added.—TJD, GMA News
