LEGO producing Ghostbusters set for film’s 30th anniversary
Remember ECTO-1, the ambulance-hearse that was converted into the hero vehicle in the "Ghostbusters" film franchise? It's coming back after 30 years, in brick form.
LEGO over the weekend announced it will give the brick tribute to ECTO-1 and the minifigure treatment to its ghost-fighting passengers.
"We’re thrilled to take the ECTO-1 and minifigure characters from BrentWaller’s Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary project and release them as the next LEGO CUUSOO set. This is an amazing model, and the set will be a fantastic representation of the cult classic film. Supporters know that Brent put a lot of love into this, and the final model, which we can’t reveal quite yet, will be largely based on his original car design," it said in its Cuusoo blog.
But it did not immediately give other details, saying the final design, pricing and availability are still being worked out.
It would only say the Ghostbusters set will be released "later this year."
LEGO said it chose to base the LEGO CUUSOO set on the Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary project as the project reached 10,000 supporters, and its designers decided to base our upcoming set on BrentWaller’s car model.
A separate report on Autoweek said the official model will be based on Brent Waller's rendition of the 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance.
"Though Waller included the Ghostbusters' firehouse headquarters in his proposal, it doesn't look like that part of the model made the cut," it said. — VC, GMA News
