Ultra Street Fighter IV reveals its 5th new combatant, Decapre
By TIM G. VILLASOR
Since it was announced in last year’s Evolution Championship Series, Capcom has slowly dropped teasers and reveals for their next update to their highly successful Street Fighter IV series, Ultra Street Fighter IV.
When the game was initially revealed, four characters were quickly introduced and added to the existing 30 plus character roster – namely Hugo, Elena, Poison, and Rolento, who previously appeared in Street Fighter X Tekken and have been tweaked and ported over to join their fellow fighters in the Street Fighter IV universe. However, series producer Yoshinori Ono also pointed out that a fifth character was also set to debut in the update, and would be a brand new one that has never appeared in previous Street Fighter games at all.
At long last, that reveal has finally come, and at the end of this year’s Capcom Pro Tour “Final Round” tournament at Atlanta, Capcom revealed the much-anticipated fifth character: Decapre - one of Bison’s Shadaloo Dolls and a clone of British soldier and femme fatale Street Fighter, Cammy White.
While she was featured in other Street Fighter material such as UDON’s comic book adaptation series, Ultra Street Fighter IV will mark Decapre’s first appearance as a playable character.
Her name hailing from the Russian word for “December”, Decapre is literally similar to Cammy in physical appearance, but conceals her face with a mask and uses a claw to further damage her opponents. Also unlike her good-natured genetic template, Decapre’s initial move set will be purely charged-based, making her particularly tricky to master and use effectively.
Legendary professional Street Fighter player Combofiend was among those who gave input in the character’s creation, and has demonstrated firsthand via a combo video how effective and deadly this new fighter will be in Ultra Street Fighter IV.

With new characters, balance changes, and a brand new “Edition Select” that allows players to choose various versions of existing characters, Ultra Street Fighter IV hits the arcade scene in Japan this April, and will be released for consoles sometime this coming June. — TJD, GMA News
