Clippy's back as Windows Phone easter egg

Remember Clippy, Microsoft's helper who users loved to hate? Well, he's back. Sort of.

Clippy is now an Easter egg in Windows Phone 8.1, Microsoft's latest operating system for mobile devices.

Users on forums at Windows Phone Central said one can trigger Clippy's appearance by asking Cortana - Microsoft's answer to Apple's Siri - by asking "Do you like Clippy?"

"She will say, 'Definitely. He taught me how important it is to listen.' or 'What's not to like? That guy took a heck of a beating and he's still smiling,'" they said.

But after that, another question asked of Cortana will prompt her to change her "avatar" into a Metro-style Clippy.

A separate report on The Verge said this is one of the Easter eggs in Windows Phone 8.1 - others include "chit chat" responses include "do you like Steve Ballmer?" to receive a developers, developers, developers reference.

Users who ask "do you like Satya Nadella?" may get Cortana’s opinion of Microsoft’s new CEO.

Cortana will also respond to "tell me a story" or "tell me a joke" with equally witty responses, The Verge added.

Cortana is part of the Windows Phone 8.1 update, which is now available for developers, it said. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
