Updated GMail Android app allows cloud saving and better controls

Gmail users with Android devices can now print or save their attachments to Google's Drive and view truncated messages with the updated version of the Gmail Android app.

Version 4.8 of the Gmail for Android app also features a new pull-to-refresh animation that features Google's red-yellow-blue-green colors, Google said in a Google+ post.

"Instead of downloading attachments to your device which takes up valuable space, you can now save attachments directly to Google Drive. Files saved to Drive are easily accessible from any smartphone, tablet or computer," it said.

Also, the new Gmail app now explains to a user why a message ends up in the Spam folder.

Users can also get faster access to the side navigation menu.

On the other hand, AndroidPolice.com said Gmail now has a richer profile switcher, with account avatars to represent various Gmail accounts.

But AndroidPolice.com said another of the biggest changes appeared to be the Gmail app showing the rest of truncated messages.

"Previously, a message that was too long would be truncated, with no way to view the entire text of the message through the app. Now, users can choose to see the whole thing," it said. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
