The new Batman: Arkham Knight gameplay trailer is just... Wow.

During Sony’s E3 Press Conference, there were plenty of nods, mentions, and trailers given to the most anticipated games looking to hit the next-generation market of console gaming later this year and sometime in 2015.

Some of them of course belong to established properties and franchises that have promised to deliver bigger and better sequels, and none may look as intimidating as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, DC Entertainment, and Rocksteady Studios final entry to their epic Batman Arkham video game series – Batman: Arkham Knight.

Revealed during the final leg of Sony’s presentation show, the new gameplay trailer pretty much encapsulated why this game is going to exceed expectations for fans of The Caped Crusader, and justified why the game was pushed back from its original October 2014 release date to sometime in 2015.

After taking a break and letting Warner Bros. Games Montreal produce Batman: Arkham Origins, original series developer Rocksteady Studios is back at the helm, and are committed to not only redefine the Arkham experience for a new generation, but add a few new tools and tricks to the Batman’s arsenal to assist him in his war against crime.

The most notable addition of course is the Batmobile – The Dark Knight’s eponymous vehicle that is not just a means of transportation, but a big and unique part of gameplay that compliments the depth and scope Arkham Knight has.

In the Gameplay Trailer, Batman dons the newest incarnation of his trademark Batsuit, which combines technology and sleekness with heavy duty, riot-gear worthy protection that he’ll need to combat the forces of evil that have infested his hometown of Gotham. Unlike previous installments of the series, the entirety of Gotham City is an open book waiting to be explored, and Batman has the option of either gliding and scouring rooftops to get to his destination, or call his trusty Batmobile and jump into it to ride into the night with style and intimidation right beside him.

Naturally, some of the Caped Crusader’s most notorious enemies make an appearance, such as the Penguin and the duality obsessed Two-Face. However, they’re all led by the master of fear himself, the Scarecrow, who plans to plunge Gotham into a literal state of anarchy and chaos.

Meanwhile, a new and mysterious adversary called the “Arkham Knight” makes his presence felt, raising the stakes for Batman and his mission to free his city from the dangers that surround it.

So it pretty much looks like Arkham Knight IS THE BATMAN GAME we deserve, and the one gamers need right now. This gameplay trailer looked so intense, and it’s a wonder how everything can fit into a game that allows you to be Batman and drive the Batmobile so seamlessly. Look for it to hit the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in 2015. — TJD, GMA News
