Angry Birds Transformers: It's more than meets the sty!

Fans of the "Angry Birds" franchise are in for an awesome blast to the past as game publisher Rovio is teaming up with toymaker Hasbro for the newest flavor of the popular game: "Angry Birds Transformers."
Following the success of "Angry Birds Star Wars," Rovio announced it is partnering with Hasbro for a mash-up game and toys based on the two iconic brands.
“We collaborated with Rovio to create opportunities for kids and families to experience Autobirds and Deceptihogs across multiple formats and entertainment platforms, for a completely immersive branded experience,” said John Frascotti, Chief Marketing Officer at Hasbro.
Rovio and Hasbro envision "Angry Birds Transformers" to have "multiple forms," including a mobile game, consumer licensed goods and a product line from Hasbro.
“This mash-up is going to appeal to those who grew up with the brand in the 80s, as well as fans of the brand today. People are going to love it!” said Blanca Juti, Rovio's Chief Marketing Officer.
Telepods
Rovio said Hasbro will roll out later this year a product line with Telepods technology, which allows "Angry Birds Transformers" toys to interact with the game.
Similar product lines include "Angry Birds Star Wars" and "Angry Birds Go!" and "Angry Birds Stella," which will be available in September.
A report on tech site The Next Web said the Telepods toys may be similar to Activision’s popular Skylanders franchise and Disney Infinity.
It also noted a teaser site showing some of the first artwork for the project.
"(Y)ou’ll never look at Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron in the same way again. For long-time fans, we can only sympathize," it said. — Joel Locsin/ELR/TJD, GMA News
