Peugeot picks up Penelope Pitstop for #ThrowbackThursday

How's this for Throwback Thursday? Nearly 50 years after they first appeared on television, the Wacky Racers have been resurrected to star in (what else?) a car advertisement.
In the ad, the Wacky Racers at least most of them, portrayed by actors or CGIs showed the racers trying to put one over the hero and his white Peugeot:
While the "new" Peugeot is supposed to be the hero car, fans of the 1960s series can look for their favorite racers and vehicles in the video posted on effects company The Mill's website, among them:
- The Ant Hill Mob in the Bulletproof Bomb
- The Red Max in the Crimson Haybaler
- Peter Perfect in the Turbo Terrific
- The Slag Brothers in the Boulder Mobile
- The Gruesome Twosome in the Creepy Coupe
- Sergeant Blast and Private Meekly in the Army Surplus Special
Perennial moustach-twirling bad guy Dick Dastardly and snickering sidekick Muttley in the Mean Machine make their appearance too as does heroine Penelope Pitstop.
Although this ad was produced a year ago, a recent remix with the original soundtrack from the 1960s cartoon classic has been making the rounds online:
The ad's official storyline, at least according to The Mill, is that Dastardly "teams up with traditional characters from the cartoon to thwart the innocent Peugeot driver," who "nimbly outwits them at every turn."
While Mill Colourist Mick Vincent, who graded the spot, said it was hard work since the weather was different in every shot, "it's always great to have a challengethe Wacky Races element also really brought back memories of my youth!" — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
