Google probes Gmail sync failure on some Android devices

Google is looking into an issue with its Gmail app for Android, where many users claimed had failed to sync their accounts, an Android enthusiast site reported.

Many users reported the sync failure after updating their Gmail for Android apps to version 4.8 AndroidPolice.com said.

"We are still looking into this – there have been several stages of investigation including reproducing the error, isolating it, diagnosing and we are now in the testing solutions phase. I will next update the thread when I have more news to share about a fix. Thanks so much for staying tuned and providing all of your information," Google said in a response dated July 2.

The AndroidPolice.com article said affected users complained of a "complete loss of the ability to sync their accounts, both manually and automatically."

Even clearing updates and returning to a previous version did not fix the problem, it said. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
