OFWs getting Internet-savvier: POEA's anti-illegal recruitment app downloaded over 43,000 times
Overseas Filipino workers are getting savvier with the Internet, availing of government online tools against illegal recruitment.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration said more than 43,000 smartphone and tablet users have downloaded the government's main online weapon against illegal recruiters.
POEA head Hans Leo Cacdac said on his Twitter account the POEA mobile app had been downloaded 43,277 times as of Wednesday.

The POEA Mobile app, available on Google Play and iTunes, can verify a recruitment agency's license validity.
It can also check if jobs advertised by recruitment agencies are covered by the appropriate job orders.
While the POEA app was updated last June, it was launched as early as March.
Online orientation seminar
Meanwhile, Cacdac said the POEA's site offering a pre-employment orientation seminar (PEOS) has received more than 32,000 views from July 15 to 31.
He said there were 32,237 unique views for http://peos.poea.gov.ph from July 15 to 31 alone.
