LEGO artist recreates entire Simpsons' Springfield in brick

Why settle for just the Simpsons' house when you can build the entire Springfield with LEGO bricks?

This was likely on the mind of master LEGO builder Matt de Lanoy, who recreated the entire town using the famous bricks.

De Lanoy featured photos of his work on his Flickr account, with the structures ranging from the town's nuclear plant to Moe's Tavern and the statue of Jebediah Springfield.

An article on tech site Mashable quoted De Lanoy as saying he built most of the town between April and June, in time for the Chicago Brickworld Convention in mid-June.

The master builder obviously went beyond the official LEGO playset that featured the Simpsons' house.

In an interview with Mashable, he said he did not track the number of bricks he used to recreate the cartoon town.

"I suspect that if I were to know the piece count, then I could get a rough estimate of how much money overall I'd spent on it — and that's just something I don't want to know," he said. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
