LEGO Star Wars Super Star Destroyer seeks Kickstarter funding

"Impressive. Most impressive," Darth Vader might well say of this 90,000-brick detailed model of his super star destroyer, the Executor.

LEGO modeler Thomas Benedikt is undertaking the project, and has taken to Kickstarter for the needed funds—about C$15,000.

Benedikt said he is planning to build a model measuring 12.6 feet long and weighing 220 pounds.

"I also plan on giving her a fully integrated LED lighting system that will allow her 5,000 transparent-blue tiles (windows) and 13 engines to light-up in the dark. If funded, I’m hoping to bring her to Lego conventions across Canada and the United States," he said.

Benedikt also said he could not get LEGO to help, as the brick company "wanted nothing to do with me" after it built a model of an X-wing fighter using 5.5 million bricks.

He added the huge cost may go to getting light gray tile pieces, which he said are "scarce and expensive." — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
