The next big superhero movie won’t arrive until early next year, but that hasn’t stopped Marvel Studios and Disney from planting the seeds for their much anticipated blockbuster team-up movie that is “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, and so far they’ve been successful in building up the hype to the film.
Once again directed by Joss Whedon, the sequel to 2012’s The Avengers sees the cast once again led by the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth, who reprise their roles of Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor respectively, who are joined by new characters such as Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and The Vision, in a new adventure that sees them taking on the sentient and evil Artificial Intelligence known as Ultron.

Released by Walt Disney Pictures and posted by Superherohype, here’s the official synopsis for the upcoming sequel:
Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision.
So in a nutshell, Tony Stark invents Ultron by accident, causing the evil robot to go on a global invasion that only The Avengers can put a stop to. After the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier revealed S.H.I.E.L.D as being taken over by HYDRA, the world is now without its primary Global Security Agency, leaving it exposed and open to many potential threats.
As Age of Ultron represents the conclusion of “Phase Two” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one has to wonder how things will go down and what the consequences of the sequel will be. Ant-Man will also show two months after that film opens, so anything’s possible when “Phase Three” begins.
