Pinay ‘online missionaries’ dedicate anti-porn infographic to Pope

Two Filipina "online missionaries" have dedicated an anti-pornography infographic they made to Pope Francis, who is visiting the Philippines in January.

Sky Ortigas and Nirvana dela Cruz also saw their work make it to the top 10 finals of an international anti-porn infographics contest, according to an article posted on the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines news site Monday.

Their entry, "The Family Intruder," is number 4 on CovenantEyes, a Christian porn-filtering site that exhorts adults to "reduce Internet temptations" by using it.

The infographic, which does not appear to cite sources for its data, claims that porn use is linked to infidelity, higher risk of separation, and decreased sexual satisfaction and marital intimacy. It also states that a man who uses porn is likely to sexually abuse his wife or girlfriend, while adolescents exposed to porn are more likely to have multiple sexual partners in their lifetime. It adds that girls who see porn at a young age may view sexual aggression as romantic event.

The contest winner will receive $3,000.

The CBCP quoted Dela Cruz as saying that the infographic is their “small act of compassion” for families destroyed by pornography.

“As our infographic says, it’s the silent intruder into many families, breaking up marriages, and rendering dysfunctional many relationships,” she said. — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
