Autobirds vs Deceptihogs: 'Angry Birds Transformers' starts rolling out
There's now definitely more than meets the eye to these Angry Birds.
Angry Birds Transformers, the latest incarnation of the popular mobile game, was soft-launched Thursday with players in Finland and New Zealand getting first crack, Rovio said.
Playable characters themed after the hit 1980s cartoon are on a mission to find the EggSpark in Piggy Island.
"Will the Autobirds and Deceptihogs be able to put aside their differences and join their forces to stop the rioting EggBots from wreaking havoc across Piggy Island?" Rovio said.

The soft launch is ahead of the game's global launch in October - on iOS on October 15, Google Android October 30, and Amazon on November 5.
No slingshots
A gameplay trailer suggests the Angry Birds have traded the slingshot for laser firearms.
"Instead of the standard slingshot-powered shenanigans, Angry Birds Transformers is a 2D side-scrolling shoot ‘em up game where feathery Autobirds blast their way through several background enemies, including Deceptihogs," Apple enthusiast site 9to5mac.com said (Instead of the standard slingshot-powered shenanigans, Angry Birds Transformers is a 2D side-scrolling shoot ‘em up game where feathery Autobirds blast their way through several background enemies, including Deceptihogs).
Yet, Rovio said the mission remains the same: "Take out swarms of enemies and topple piggy towers with strategically placed shots – but leave the slingshot at home ‘cos these birds are packin’ some serious firepower!"
Also, fans of the 1984 series would likely love the soundtrack "of cheesy 80’s music" as well as the retro feel.
Rovio's nods to classic characters such as Optimus Prime and Astrotrain can be seen in the trailer. — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
