Google Chrome policy management extended to Android, iOS
Now, office IT administrators can have an easier time managing settings for Chrome on even more mobile devices, as Google upgraded its Admin Console to handle two new platforms.
In a blog post, Google said administrators can now set policies on Chrome on Google's Android and Apple's iOS, two of the most popular mobile operating systems.
"Since April 2013, admins have had the capability to set 100+ Chrome policies for users on Chrome Devices, Windows, Mac, and Linux when they sign-in to Chrome with their Google Apps account," it said.
On Wednesday, it said some of these same policies can apply to Chrome on Android and iOS as well.
Admins can now set bookmarks through the Managed Bookmarks setting on Google Admin console and it gets pushed to Chrome on all six platforms, including mobile.
"Similarly, you can set the Proxy policy or the Password Manager policy once and it will apply on Chrome on all 6 platforms," it said.
A separate report on The Next Web said this means all users signed in to Chrome for mobile with their organization’s account "will receive whatever user settings the administrator has set."
But it added this is still an “experimental feature.” — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
