Sony Philippines unveils latest Xperia, SmartWear models


 

 
Sony's latest Xperia phones and SmartWear wearables made their local debut in Makati City on October 14.
 
The new Xperia Z3 series includes the Xperia Z3, the Xperia Z3 Compact, and the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. All models in the series boast a waterproof rating of IP 65/68m currently the highest in the industry. There are also new camera apps that enable users to record from up to three angles using other compatible devices, use the front and back camera at the same time, and add sound effects to a photo, among other things. All of the devices can be connected to your PS4 gaming console, enabling you to play from anywhere in your house.
 
The Z3 weighs only 152 grams, is 7.3 mm wide, and has a 20.7 megapixel camera. The Z3 compact has all the same features of the Z3, except it comes in a smaller size, weighing only 129 grams. The 8-inch Z3 Compact Tablet weighs less than 270 grams and is 6.4 mm wide.
 
Two mid-range smartphones were introduced during the launch as well. The Xperia E3 has a scratch-resistant screen, LTE connectivity, and a 4.5 inch display. The Xperia M2 Aqua is the waterproof version of the X2. It possesses a qHD display and ultrafast processor.
 
Both of the watches introduced in the SmartWear series are waterproof (IP68). The SmartBand Talk has a microphone and speaker, allowing you to take and make calls. It also has a built-in accelerometer and altimeter to help you keep track of your daily physical activity. The SmartWatch 3 is powered by Android Wear, with a 1.6-inch display and built-in accelerometer, compass, and GPS sensor.
 
The Xperia E3 has an SRP of P 10,490, the SmartBand Talk an SRP of P 8,990, and the SmartWatch 3 an SRP of P 11,990. The Xperia Z3 series will launch locally on the fourth week of October. — TJD, GMA News
