Spider-Gwen, Silk to get their own comics series
By TIM G. VILLASOR

Spinning right out of the events of The Amazing Spider-Man and the upcoming event “Spider-Verse”, Marvel has announced that two of their newest webhead creations are getting their own series, following the warm reception and popularity each character has gotten after their respective introductions.
Straight from Marvel’s Spider-Verse Panel held at this year’s New York Comic Con, the House of Ideas has officially announced that Spider-Woman Gwen Stacy and Silk are getting their own series, which comes after the events of Spider-Verse – an event starting this November that sees “Every Spider-Man Ever” grace the pages of Spider-Man related titles in a desperate bid to unite and fight against a large threat after all of their lives.
After appearing in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man, new Spider-Man supporting character Silk will be getting her own series, which will be written by Robbie Thompson and drawn by Stacey Lee and explore the character’s origins after being bitten by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his amazing abilities. The character, also known by her civilian identity of Cindy Moon, was created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos and first appeared in the pages of the relaunched The Amazing Spider-Man series. After Peter Parker regained control of his body from Doctor Octopus, he found out about Cindy and set her free, leading to her taking on the role of “Silk” and joining Spidey in his adventures. She will play a prominent role in Spider-Verse, helping Peter and the other Spider characters in fighting their common enemy.
Due to overwhelming popularity following her introduction in the pages of Edge of Spider-Verse #2, the Spider-Woman incarnation of Gwen Stacy, affectionately called “Spider-Gwen” by the fans, is now getting her own series. Writer Jason Latour and artist Robbi Rodriguez, the creative team behind her introductory issue, will once again return to pen her new ongoing, which will explore Gwen as she adjusts to the life of being a superhero in a world where she was bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker. Spider-Gwen instantly became a fan-favorite to readers of Spider-Man and beyond, and her adventure with other Spider-Men and Women from different universes will further be explored in “Spider-Verse” beginning this November. — TJD, GMA News
