Locate dearly departed at the Manila North Cemetery with this website

This year, Filipinos with relatives buried in the Manila North Cemetery may no longer have to worry about locating the tombs of their dearly departed. That is, if they have an Internet connection.

Management of Metro Manila's biggest cemetery have set up a website to help people locate their deceased loved ones' tombs, GMA News' Jay Sabale reported on GMA News TV's "News to Go."

Visitors to the website will see a map of the cemetery, and a list of records of the deceased buried there.

They can type in their loved ones' names in the search box.

But as of Tuesday evening, not all of the records were complete in terms of lot and grave numbers.

The Manila North Cemetery is the biggest in Metro Manila, with an area of 54 hectares.

It serves as the final resting place for key figures in Philippine history including former Presidents such as Sergio Osmeña, Ramon Magsaysay, and Manuel Roxas.

Also buried in the cemetery are historian Epifanio de los Santos (for whom EDSA is named) and actor Fernando Poe Jr.

Live CCTV feed

As of Tuesday evening, the cemetery streams a live feed of the areas covered by its closed-circuit television systems.

GMA's Sabale also reported electronic sensors will be installed at the main gate.

Security

Plainclothes and uniformed police personnel will patrol the cemetery premises.

They and the cemetery management will crack down on sharp and deadly objects, alcoholic drinks and sound systems, as well as gambling.

From Oct. 29 to Nov. 2, vehicles will not be allowed inside the cemetery, and there will be no burial or cremation.

Police assistance desks will be stationed in strategic areas of the cemetery. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
