WATCH: ‘Final Fantasy XV’ trailer now with English audio

Remember that “Final Fantasy XV” trailer that blew everybody’s mind back in September?

Well, that trailer is back, only this time, it’s in English. So you can now tell what our spiky-haired pretty boys are talking about as they race toward that golden sunset in their sleek, sexy car.

The video, which was uploaded on Square Enix’s Facebook page, is the latest version of the trailer revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2014. According to the post, the trailer “showcases the English voice actors in the game for the very first time.”

As is to be expected, fan reactions have been varied.

“Typical anime voice over-acting,” said commenter Olly_Tei.

“One Direction band members with swords,” observed Casshan Singnamsaab.

“They actually sound alright! I’m surprised,” stated one Alex Ginn.

Many fans declared their preference for the original Japanese voices, while others expressed their hope that the end product would offer a choice between Japanese and English audio.

Eight years and counting

“Final Fantasy” enthusiasts have been waiting for “Final Fantasy XV” for more than eight years – a period of time that has seen some fans gradually becoming disenchanted with the title, and even the entire franchise itself.

But earlier this year, Square Enix proved to fans it had not yet given up on the game, or on them. In September, game director Hajime Tabata admitted “Final Fantasy XV” was 55 percent finished. He also assured fans it won’t take the company another eight years to complete the title’s development.

Hajime Tabata has worked on critical and financials hits such as “Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII” and “Final Fantasy Type-0”.

A 3-hour playable demo for “Final Fantasy XV” will be available next year, but only in limited quantities. Specifically, it will be included in the Day One pre-orders of “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD”.

“It’s intended to be a special gift for those of you who purchase early – the demo will be limited to the ‘Day One’ edition of the game, meaning that only the first shipment is going to have the demo in it,” explained Scott Strichart, product marketing manager at Square Enix. — TJD, GMA News
