VIDEO: Teen solves Rubik's Cube in 5.25 seconds, breaks world record
How fast can you solve a Rubik's Cube?
A teenager over the weekend set a new world record for solving a 3x3 Rubik's Cube - likely faster than you can say "restore a 3x3x3 Rubik's cube."
Collin Burns posted a video of him solving the cube in just 5.25 seconds, to cheers from the crowd.
A report on tech site Mashable said the feat was done at Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
His feat broke the previous record by Mats Valk from the Netherlands of 5.55 seconds.
Mashable said last Saturday's competition was an official one by the World Cube Association, whose representative confirmed Burns' official record.
"Although this result has not been uploaded to the WCA database just yet, we can confirm that this is (or will be soon) the new official WCA world record for the 3x3x3 single solve category. To our best knowledge, it has been performed in an official competition, with all the rules being followed, even the scramble has been checked for its correctness," Mashable quoted the representative as saying. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
