UP, Dassault Systèmes tie-up brings 3D design software to students

The University of the Philippines has entered into a partnership with Dassault Systèmes and their local partner MDCGroup, Inc. to provide students with 3D engineering design tools and access to 3D digital mock-up and product lifecycle management (PLM) technologies.

 

The partnership was sealed in a memorandum of understanding signing last February 27 this year.

 

This opens up project management opportunities which will allow engineering students to gain experience that will be useful when they enter the workforce. The design tools are based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

 

“There is always this gap between classroom learning and the realities in the workplace because of fast changing industrial demands,” said Dr. Aura C. Matias, Dean of the UP College of Engineering. “Through this partnership with Dassault Systèmes and MDCGroup, we hope to transform engineering education by integrating digital technologies that provide a virtual learning environment for real industrial projects. Students will become adept with the right skillsets and the relevant industry experience for the roles they will play in the real world.”
