Identity of female Thor revealed

 

Earlier this year, a woman took the mantle of The Mighty Thor when she, and not the Son of Odin, could lift the enchanted hammer Mjolnir.

 

This week, the new goddess of thunder finally removed her helmet to reveal herself as no other than... Dr. Jane Foster.

 

Science-culture site io9.com said Marvel confirmed to The New York Times that Foster, former mortal girlfriend of the former Thor—who is now going just by "Odinson"—is the new Thor.

 

Mashable posted panels from the upcoming Thor comics where Foster revealed her identity to Odinson.

 

But Foster is now battling cancer, "and her hammer time isn't helping things at all," it said.

 

Still, Mashable said this does not automatically mean Odinson will regain the ability to wield Mjolnir.

 

Citing Marvel, it said the revelation "only scratches the surface of the new Thor’s story and is simply the set up that will send shockwaves through the entire Marvel Universe." — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
