iOS 9’s 6-digit passcode, smaller size to benefit lower-end iPhones, iPads
Soon, owners of iPhones and iPads can feel a bit more secure as their iDevices will require not four but six digits for unlocking.
The feature is one of the less talked-about in iOS 9, Apple's upcoming operating system for mobile devices, The Next Web reported.
While seemingly inconsequential, TNW said the feature should "make it much harder for someone to hack into your phone, as the number of possible combinations jumps from about 10,000 to one million."
But it added the six-digit passcode could be "legacy support," as some devices like the iPhone 5C and iPad mini 2 do not support the fingerprint-based Touch ID.
The legacy support is also sensible as iOS 9 is now much smaller – a blessing to lower-end devices like the iPhone 5C. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
