Google presents animated doodle for Father’s Day

Google paid tribute to fathers – human and nonhuman alike – on Sunday with an animated doodle celebrating Fathers' Day.

Visitors to Google's home page were greeted with an animation of a father nurturing his young in his own way.

The doodle had a similar theme to that of Mothers' Day last May – paying tribute to parents "of all shapes, sizes, and species," doodler Olivia Huynh said.

Huynh also did the doodle for Mothers' Day last May 10.

"Today’s Doodle represents the universality of familial love.  I had a few separate concepts, some with animals, some with people, and looking at them all, I thought it would be fun to try to tie them together," she said in explaining her work.

She said she decided to use a watercolor texture "because I think there’s something very comforting and familiar about it, that shows a more human hand."

"Thank you to dads everywhere, for carrying us until we've learned to stand on our own, and sometimes even after," she said.
