Xiaomi launches Mi 4i in PHL, priced P9.8k

Xiaomi’s Mi 4i smartphone will be available in the Philippines starting 29 July, priced at PHP 9,799. The Mi 4i was first launched in India earlier in the year.

The Mi 4i has a 5-inch screen, 1080p HD display, and pixel density of 441 PPI. The Sunlight Display feature adjusts the contrast of each pixel, so the user can still see the screen even when it’s under direct sunlight. The Mi 4i also has a 3120 mAh battery, a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of onboard Flash, and 4G dual SIM feature. The rear camera is 13 MP while the front has a resolution of 5 MP, with an 80-degree wide angle lens.

The motherboard, the result of a collaboration with Foxconn, is one of the smallest and thinnest for smartphones of this size. The OS is MIUI 6, based on Android’s 5.0 Lollipop OS.

The Mi 4i will be available initially on Lazada beginning on 29 July before rolling out to offline channels by 1 August. Smart will be offering the Mi 4i via its Surf Plus Plans postpaid lineup. Free Smart prepaid SIMs will be available to users who buy the Mi 4i from non-telco retailers. Pre-registration for Smart customers will start on 24 July. — Bea Montenegro/TJD, GMA News
