Xena reboot in the works? It’s just rumor, says Lucy Lawless

First, the good news. After 20 years, "Xena: Warrior Princess" could be making a comeback to television in 2016, a Hollywood-oriented site reported Monday.
The Hollywood Reporter (THR) cited sources indicating NBC and NBCUniversal International are looking for a writer for the reboot of the cult action-adventure show.
"The drama is in the extremely early development stages and a search for a writer is currently underway. Original executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi are also involved in the project, which is considered to be a 'modern reboot,'" it said.
It also quoted sources who said insiders want original star Lucy Lawless to have "both a role onscreen and behind the scenes" in the reboot.
Also, THR cited its sources as saying the new Xena would have to "have the charisma and charm of Lawless and the smarts of The Hunger Games' Katniss."
THR also noted Lawless had recently told HitFix at Comic-Con that "they've got to bring [Xena] back."
Now, the bad news
Lawless, however – in a post on her Twitter account on Tuesday said that all this news of a reboot is "just a rumor," at least as far as she is concerned.
"Sorry, friends! news of a #Xena reboot is just a rumor. I'd love it to happen one day but it's still in the wishful thinking stage," she said. — Joel Locsin/LBG/TJD, GMA News
