DOST to offer secure digital certificates for websites
To help website owners secure their online properties, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will be accepting applications for digital certificates at the upcoming National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) in Pasay City.
Applications for digital certificates will be accepted at the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) National Science and Technology Week (NSTW). This is part of the Integrated Government Philippines (iGovPhil) Project of DOST.
The digital certificates can be used to authenticate and sign electronic documents, secure online transactions, and enable online payment when you use the free public Wi-Fi provided by DOST. The certificates will be issued through iGovPhil’s Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) service.
A both open from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM will be at the NSTW to accept applications. The online application form can be found by clicking here.
Applicants are required to bring the following:
- Printout of the accomplished form
- Unified Multipurpose Identification (UMID) compliant card
- Photocopy of the UMID-compliant card
- Passport-sized photo taken within the last six months
- Mobile or landline number
- E-mail address owned by applicant (or authorized by owner for use by the applicant)
- Latest copy of a bill showing applicant’s physical address
- Consent to verify the information submitted
The PIN which will be used to activate the applicant’s digital certificate will be sent to the applicant’s address.
If you don’t have a UMID-compliant card, you can bring any two of the following:
- Passport
- Driver’s License
- Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) ID
- National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance
- Police Clearance
- Postal ID
- Voter’s ID
- Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) e-Card
- Social Security System (SSS) Card
- Senior Citizen Card
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ID
- OFW ID
- Seaman’s Book
- Alien Certification of Registration/Immigrant Certificate of Registration
- Government Office and GOCC ID, e.g. Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP ID), Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF ID)
- Certification from the National Council for the Welfare of Disabled Persons (NCWDP)
- Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Certification
- Integrated Bar Of The Philippines ID
- Company IDs Issued by Private Entities or Institutions Registered with or Supervised or Regulated either by the BSP, SEC or IC
According to the iGovPhil website, "personal appearance before an RA officer for face-to-face verification is a mandatory requirement."
