Instagram now supports non-square photos
You can now upload photos and videos in landscape or portrait orientation, Instagram announced via a blog post.
According to the post, one out of every five photos or videos uploaded aren’t square, requiring users to crop them and leave out possibly important details.
“That said, the visual story you’re trying to tell should always come first, and we want to make it simple and fun for you to share moments just the way you want to.”
With the update, users can now tap the format icon when they upload a video or photo. This allows them to adjust the orientation. However, thumbnails in the profile grid will appear as center-cropped squares to maintain aesthetics.
Another new feature included in the Instagram update is that filters will no longer be separate for photos and videos. All filters can be used across all upload types and filter intensity for videos can now also be adjusted. — Bea Montenegro/TJD, GMA News
