'Viva Pinoy!' Guillermo del Toro wowed by aswangs

Acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro has been brushing up on his monster lore ever since he started work on his upcoming romantic horror film, Crimson Peak.
His Twitter timeline of late has been filled with all sorts of monster trivia and esoteric lore from around the world—including a special mention of aswangs, or "Philippine vampires":
Vampire Fun Facts: The Aswang (Filipino Vampire) feedson the unborn via unorthodox methods. Eerily, it clucks like hen.

Also, this isn't the first time that he's sneaked a reference to the Philippines into his work: in 2013's Pacific Rim, the country's capital city made a quick and dirty appearance at the beginning of the film:
