Hideo Kojima officially partners with Sony

A sigh of relief came to the breaths of Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima and the rest of the gaming world, as the video game prodigy’s tenure with Konami is OVER and done with as of December 15 following the year long controversy between the two parties that resulted in developer being barred from receiving any awards and Kojima Productions being shut down.

Now a new age has begun, as Kojima-San has officially entered a partnership with Sony and PlayStation, starting a new video-game production company that is, fittingly, still called Kojima Productions and sporting a new logo to boot.

A video announcement was released by Sony detailing the new developments, with Kojima formally announcing that he and his company were making a new gaming IP.

“I’m thrilled to embark in creating a new franchise with PlayStation that will give you all a new and gaming experience so please stay tuned,” he said.

Kojima’s partnership with Sony isn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision, as the developer has stated that he and the company have had a healthy working relationship the past 10 years that they “gel well” together.

This announcement couldn’t please fans and peers more, as many view Konami’s treatment of Kojima to be a “slap in the face” and so disrespectful that many have lost faith in the publisher. Even as the company states that they are openly hiring a new developer to helm new Metal Gear games, it just won’t be the same without the man who created the franchise in the first place.  — TJD, GMA News
