Asiasoft, Globe Telecom tie up for gaming services
In a move to bring enhanced gaming services provisioning to Filipinos, Globe Telecom and its wholly owned subsidiary G-XChange, Inc. (GXI) have entered a collaboration with Asiasoft Corporation Public Company Limited, the regional provider of online entertainment.
The strategic partnership is part of the Memorandum of Understanding with Asiasoft, which was signed by Globe and GXI along with the following Singtel Group members: Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel), Thailand’s Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS), and Indonesia’s PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel).
Much of the agreement revolves around the use of GCash, which is GXI’s mobile wallet. Many local and international companies are already using GCash as an online or mobile payment method for produces and services.
“GCash aims to further establish its position as the preferred payment option in the mobile and digital space,” stated the President and CEO of GXI, Xavier Marzan. “Thus, we are excited to explore marketing collaborations with Asiasoft to grow gaming-related transactions and bring GCash at the forefront of eCommerce. At the same time, we want to enhance existing Globe customer payment services and provide them with a full digital lifestyle experience.”
Because of the partnership, customers will be able to purchase in-game goods – such as cash items, coins, gems, and lives – without using a credit card. GCash will instead be used as a means of payment at the Playpark game portal and mobile app checkouts via Asiasoft’s own single wallet platform, PlayMall.
GCash allows customers to engage in eCommerce without the need for a credit card or even a bank account – all that is required is a mobile phone. Customers can load their GCash mobile wallet by cashing in at any of the numerous GCash outlets in the country, or by enrolling in online and mobile banking. — TJD, GMA News
