‘Heroes of the Storm’ spotlights Xul the Necromancer in new video
“Heroes of the Storm” is finally giving “Diablo II” some much-needed love. The Necromancer, who was announced in January, is the first among the classic RPG’s heroes to make it to Blizzard’s battle royal.
As has already become tradition with “Heroes of the Storm,” Blizzard has released a Hero Spotlight video detailing Xul the Necromancer’s abilities.
Xul belongs to the Cult of Rathma – an order of mages devoted to maintaining the balance between chaos and order. They have a keen understanding of the thin line separating life and death, which allows them to reanimate and manipulate corpses. Quite handy when you’re home alone on a Friday night. Having some living dead thing to converse with definitely beats talking to a wall.
If Xul is indeed the same Necromancer as the one in “Diablo II,” he seems to have put on several pounds of muscle. Apparently, becoming a Priest of Rathma awards you a lifetime Fitness First membership. He is, however, still rocking a striking pallor that would have made Michael Jackson proud.
“Heroes of the Storm” classifies Xul as a melee Specialist. Both the video and GMA’s previous article discuss his capabilities in more detail. But, to summarize, Xul’s tools allow him to mess with his opponents’ mobility. In addition, his Trait, which automatically raises up to four dead enemy minions, makes him great at pushing lanes.
With the release of the Spotlight video, it’s only a matter of time before Xul joins the battle in the Nexus. In the meantime, be prepared for an avalanche of Ghostbusters-related puns as the excitement builds up for “Heroes of the Storm’s” newest hero. — TJD, GMA News
