‘Shadow of the Beast’ Blu-ray edition out this May

Old school gamers and action-adventure fans have a lot to look forward to this coming May. Sony Interactive Entertainment just revealed that a Blu-Ray Disc Edition of the PlayStation 4 exclusive, “Shadow of the Beast,” will be released on May 17, 2016.

The Blu-ray Disc Edition will be available only in the Asian region. In the Philippines, it will cost PHP 999. Additionally, those who purchase “Shadow of the Beast” early will avail of a bonus bundle consisting of the game’s theme music and artwork.
 

The game has you assuming the role of Aarbron. When he was just a child, Aarbron was abducted, then transformed into a monstrous warrior for the tyrant, Maletoth. Now Aarbron seeks to overthrow his former master. This will require him to explore the enigmatic and deadly land of Karamoon, slay vicious hordes and gargantuan bosses, and unleash the power within himself.

“Shadow of the Beast” is a combination of the side-scrolling platformer and action-adventure genres. Combat is fast-paced, and makes extensive use of combos and counter attacks. There entire game is rendered in slick 3D.

Those who’ve been playing video games since the 80s will know that “Shadow of the Beast” is a remake of a classic game. The original “Shadow of the Beast” was released in 1989 for platforms such as the Commodore Amiga, Super Nintendo, and Sega Genesis. With its revolutionary visuals, music, and action-packed gameplay, it was a favorite among fans and critics. It spawned a sequel in 1990, and another in 1992.

“Shadow of the Beast” 2016 will reacquaint fans with the beloved 80s icon, Aarbron, while introducing a new generation of gamers to one of the most invigorating fantasy franchises of classic gaming.
