Man makes working hoverbike in his garage

Plumber-slash-Youtuber Colin Furze just made a working hoverbike in his own garage.

The UK-based Furze has made a name for himself as a daredevil tinkerer via his YouTube channel, creating everything from a thermite launcher, ice bike, and an ejector bed. His channel boasts of over 2.7 million subscribers and 262 million views to date.

For this project, Furze solicited ideas from his viewers. The Ford Unlearn Project backed him up, and he assembled the hoverbike using just off-the-shelf equipment.

“You wanted me to fly, so I’ve made this. It has no steering, it has no breaks. It has two accelerators and not even a seat. But can someone with no engineering qualification and no experience in flying make something that actually leaves the ground?” Furze said as he introduced his newest creation.

After a few attempts and adjustments, Furze gained some control over the hoverbike.

“Controlling this thing at all is a small miracle. But with a little practice you can start to tame it. We have various ideas of adding stability controls to it but we just did not have the payload. It only just lifts me on the ground, we couldn’t add extra weight,” Furze said.
