Huawei P9 launched in Philippines

Following its launch in London and subsequent reveal in Bali, Indonesia, the Huawei P9 is finally being introduced in the Philippines.

Chinese tech giant Huawei unveiled its newest flagship smartphone at the City of Dreams, Manila, on June 2, 2016. Co-engineered with esteemed camera manufacturer Leica, the premium device Huawei P9 aims to rewrite the book on smartphone photography with its innovative dual-lens camera.

“The arrival of the Huawei P9 line in the Philippines signifies a shift in the standard of phone photography,” stated Corinne Bacani, Senior Marketing Manager for Consumer Business Group (CBG) of Huawei Philippines. “Now, the game has changed and we are confident to stand out from the norm. Much like how a Leica photograph stands out from others, P9 users set themselves apart from other smartphone users with the perfect tool for creativity and self-expression.”

The Huawei P9 is the first smartphone to have this sort of partnership with a global camera brand as renowned as Leica Camera AG.

The event discussed the P9’s features, focusing on the dual-lens camera in particular.

The dual-lens camera consists of a pair of 12-megapixel sensors. While the RGB sensor focuses on capturing intense colors, the monochrome sensor specializes in acquiring crisp picture details. Working in combination, the sensors are able to generate clean, expressive images – both in color and in black and white. Because the dual-camera design ensures more light and detail are captured, the P9 also works well in low-light conditions.

“We are confident that the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus will elevate your standard in phone photography,” stated Jose Vega, Director for CBG of Huawei Philippines. “It is the phone that will redefine creativity and social sharing right at your fingertips. At the core of the P9 is the pursuit of relentless creativity and self-expression.”

Starting this June 15, the P9 and its two variations, the P9 Plus and P9 Lite, will be available in the Philippines, specifically at Huawei concept stores and distributors. They can also be purchased at the Leica stores in Greenbelt and Shangri-La.

The P9, which boasts a 5.2-inch 1080p display and a 3,000mAh high-density battery, will cost PHP 23,990. The P9 Plus, which features a larger 5.5-inch Press Touch display and a longer-lasting 3,400mAh battery, will sell at PHP 29,990. The P9 Lite, which is as powerful as the P9 but lacks its dual-lens camera, will be sold at an affordable PHP 12,490.

Additionally, consumers can avail of the smartphones through various Globe and Smart Postpaid plans.
