Things heat up at ‘Heroes of the Storm’ Summer Global Championship Days 4 & 5
The fighting grew fiercer as the “Heroes of the Storm” Summer Global Championship progressed through its fourth and fifth days at Dreamhack, Sweden.
With the end of the first three days, or Stage 1, of the tournament, (http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/570391/scitech/technology/heroes-on-fire-in-heroes-of-the-storm-summer-global-championship-days-1-3) four teams – MVP Black, X-Team, mYinsanity, and Please Buff Arthas – moved on to Stage 2, where they battled Tempest, Team Dignitas, Team Naventic, and eStar Gaming
The eight teams were grouped into two:
Group A:
MVP Black (South Korea 2nd place)
eStar Gaming (China 1st place)
Team Naventic (North America 1st place)
Please Buff Arthas (Taiwan)
Group B:
Tempest (South Korea 1st place)
Team Dignitas (Europe 1st place)
mYinsanity (Europe 2nd place)
X-Team (China 2nd place)
DAY FOUR, JUNE 18
Day Four of the event saw fights between teams in Group A. The double elimination format of the competition determined which bracket each team ended up in.
- MVP Black vs. Team Naventic
Crushing multiple forts and three successful Webweaver phases allowed MVP Black to dominate Game 1. Final stats: MVP Black Lv18, 17 kills vs. Team Naventic Lv15, 4 kills
Game 2 proved a one-sided match, as Team Naventic suffered heavy casualties and devastating attacks from MVP Black’s Punishers. Final stats: MVP Black Lv18, 19 kills vs. Team Naventic Lv14, 3 kills
Result: MVP Black (2), Team Naventic (0)
- eStar Gaming vs. Please Buff Arthas
Things turned sour for PBA after they suffered a near-wipeout 20 minutes into Game 1. A Punisher-led attack by eStar Gaming finally took down PBA’s core. Final stats: eStar Gaming Lv21, 17 kills vs. PBA Lv20, 11 kills
PBA lost many lives to eStar Gaming. A team wipeout 15 minutes into Game 2 sealed PBA’s defeat. Final stats: eStar Gaming Lv20, 21 kills vs. PBA Lv16, 3 kills

- Losers Match: Team Naventic vs. Please Buff Arthas
Game 1 saw Team Naventic crushing PBA with a mountain of kills and four consecutive Punisher waves. Final Stats: Team Naventic Lv23, 33 kills vs. PBA Lv21, 8 kills
After flattening four forts, Team Naventic grabbed a boss, which helped them win Game 2. Final Stats: Team Naventic Lv21, 16 kills vs. PBA Lv20, 3 kills
Result: Team Naventic (2), Please Buff Arthas (0)
With two defeats, Please Buff Arthas, and therefore Taiwan, was eliminated from the competition.
- Winners Match: MVP Black vs. eStar Gaming
With the help of temple magic, MVP Black whittled down eStar Gaming’s defenses. MVP Black brought a boss to the final core push, helping them secure victory. Final Stats: MVP Black Lv20, 12 kills vs. eStar Gaming Lv18, 6 kills
eStar Gaming’s aggression paid off when, after cursing MVP Black, they captured a boss and pushed the core. Game 2 was over in 13 minutes. Final Stats: eStar Gaming Lv17, 10 kills vs. MVP Black Lv16, 3 kills
eStar Gaming suffered heavy casualties throughout Game 3. In an Immortal-led core push, MVP Black slayed four eStar Gaming heroes, ending the match in less than 9 minutes. Final Stats: MVP Black Lv12, 12 kills vs. eStar Gaming Lv9, 1 kill

- Deciders Match: Team Naventic vs. eStar Gaming
eStar Gaming slaughtered Team Naventic with wipeouts and near-wipeouts. eStar Gaming eventually summoned their Immortal, pushed the core, and won the match. Final Stats: eStar Gaming Lv21, 29 kills vs. Team Naventic Lv18, 14 kills
Multiple kills and the repeated summoning of Punishers allowed eStar Gaming to dominate Team Naventic. Final Stats: eStar Gaming Lv16, 15 kills vs. Team Naventic Lv13, 3 kills
Result: eStar Gaming (2), Team Naventic (0)
With two losses, Team Naventic was removed from the competition. Thus ended North America’s hopes for the HotS Summer Global Championship. MVP Black and eStar Gaming qualified for the Semifinals.

DAY FIVE, JUNE 19
Day Five saw fights between teams in Group B.
- mYinsanity vs. Team Dignitas
Team Dignitas was down to one fort after mYinsanity cursed them and sent two bosses to their base. A second curse and four dead heroes cost Team Dignitas Game 1. Final stats: mYinsanity Lv19, 11 kills vs. Team Dignitas Lv16, 1 kill
mYinsanity monopolized every Punisher phase in Game 2, and after wiping out Team Dignitas 14 minutes into the game, there was no preventing their victory. Final stats: mYinsanity Lv18, 7 kills vs. Team Dignitas Lv16, 4 kills
Result: mYinsanity (2), Team Dignitas (0)
- Tempest vs. X-Team
A close match gradually turned in Tempest’s favor after they started dominating every Punisher phase. Eventually, a quad kill allowed Tempest to march into a defenseless base to take Game 1. Final stats: Tempest Lv20, 10 kills vs. X-Team Lv17, 1 kill
Tempest took the lead from X-Team one kill, one fort at a time. A quad kill 16 minutes into Game 2 allowed Tempest to summon the Dragon Knight and crush X-Team’s core. Final stats: Tempest Lv20, 15 kills vs. X-Team Lv18, 7 kills
Result: Tempest (2), X-Team (0)
- Losers Match: Team Dignitas vs. X-Team
The teams were neck and neck for more than 20 minutes in Game 1, until a quad kill by Team Dignitas left X-Team’s core unprotected. Final Stats: Team Dignitas Lv23, 11 kills vs. X-Team Lv22, 8 kills
Team Dignitas punished X-Team with multiple kills and a curse. X-Team retaliated, cursing Team Dignitas and leaving them with one fort standing. But Team Dignitas retook the lead, and in a boss-led core push won Game 2. Final Stats: Team Dignitas Lv22, 16 kills vs. X-Team Lv21, 5 kills

With two losses, X-Team was eliminated from the tourney.
- Winners Match: Tempest vs. mYinsanity
Tempest played aggressively, seizing their Punisher twice and many mercenaries. Game 1 was over in less than 10 minutes. Final Stats: Tempest Lv12, 2 kills vs. mYinsanity Lv11, 3 kills
This extremely close match ended when Tempest wiped out mYinsanity 18 minutes into Game 2. Final Stats: Tempest Lv21, 12 kills vs. mYinsanity Lv20, 7 kills

- Deciders Match: mYinsanity vs. Team Dignitas
mYinsanity gained the lead after their Lost Vikings split up to seize two temples simultaneously, which eventually destroyed Team Dignitas’ remaining forts. Team Dignitas retaliated by bringing a boss to the core, which they brought down to 33%. But mYinsanity slaughtered the entire team, then marched into Team Dignitas’ defenseless base to claim victory. Final Stats: mYinsanity Lv22, 7 kills vs. Team Dignitas Lv21, 5 kills
Team Dignitas thwarted numerous attempts by mYinsanity to destroy them, even summoning several Punishers in the process. 28 minutes into Game 2, they eventually caught up to mYinsanity’s level. In a disastrous clash for the Punisher, however, mYinsanity wiped out Team Dignitas, sealing their fate. Final Stats: mYinsanity Lv24, 17 kills vs. Team Dignitas Lv24, 6 kills

With two losses, Team Dignitas was forced to drop out of the competition. Tempest and mYinsanity moved forwards to the Semifinals.

On to the Finals!
MVP Black, Tempest, eStar Gaming, and mYinsanity moved forwards to the Semifinal and Final rounds of the HotS Summer Global Championship, which was scheduled for June 20.

With the championship and $150,000 at stake, Day Six promised to be particularly vicious. And on everyone’s mind, the questions burned: would MVP Black prevail, or would fellow South Korean team Tempest steal the victory from them? Would eStar Gaming finally prove China’s superiority, or would mYinsanity bring the honor to Europe?
