Huawei holds GR5 ‘selfie raid’, P9 trade-in
Huawei unveiled some powerful new smartphones this year, such as the GR5 and P9. To boost the local market’s awareness of the Huawei brand, the Chinese tech behemoth has been organizing a variety of events and promotions aimed at showcasing their latest products to potential consumers.
The Metro Manila GR5 Great Selfie Raid
Mall-goers at SM Megamall and SM North EDSA were treated to a surprise when they found MYX VJ Sunny Kim roaming the hallways, taking selfies with people. The phone she used to take these photos was the Huawei GR5.
Of course, the photo op wasn’t just about capturing smiles and silly faces for posterity; Sunny Kim also challenged interested parties to use the GR5’s fingerprint technology to unlock the device. Those who succeeded got to take home brand-new GR5 smartphones.

The GR5 features a 360-degree fingerprint sensor at the posterior panel, which utilizes advanced touch technology. With it, users can unlock their smartphones, take pictures, and more in just 0.5 seconds.
The Huawei GR5 also boasts 5MP front and 13MP rear cameras in f/2.0. Special filters allow users to enhance their photos by enriching colors, sharpening details, and more. Among those filters is the Good Food photo filter, which should appeal to those who love taking pictures of their meals.
The phone comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display, an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 2GB RAM, and Android 5.1 Lollipop. It has a long-lasting 3,000 mAh battery.
The Huawei GR5 costs P10,490, and can be purchased from any Huawei concept and partner store.
The GR5 Great Selfie Raid is far from over. This July, it will be visiting malls in Pampanga, Calamba, and Cavite. It will then head to Metro Davao in August, and Metro Cebu in September. This should allow more people to see firsthand what the GR5 is all about, and give a lucky few the chance to win themselves the gadgets.

Huawei P9 trade-in
Co-engineered with revered camera manufacturer Leica, the premium device Huawei P9 – along with its more powerful version, the P9 Plus – landed in Philippine stores on June 15.
